2012-04-23 Groundbraking for a new logistics center!

The gigantic steel rails of the new mega coaster for the theme park in Sochi, Russia are shooting up metre by metre. However, before they set off for Russia they pass through the many stations in the production halls of the ride manufacturer, MACK Rides, in South Baden. Rollercoasters, water rides and carousels are created here in quick succession for theme parks all over the world. It all began with the organ wagon over circus caravans and small fairground rides and is now all about continually bigger and better steel giants, which excite and captivate visitors.

Due to the healthy order situation MACK Rides needs greater volumes of material and significantly more space for manufacturing and construction. This is why building is now taking place on Mauermattenstrasse in Waldkirch. A modern logistics centre where goods are picked and prepared for different work stages will be built here by the end of October 2012.

"The great response to and interest in our quality products with the "Made in Germany" seal all over the world encourage us in our decision to invest in the location of Waldkirch" says Managing Director Christian von Elverfeldt. "It is particularly important in times of a shortage of skilled personnel and reluctance to invest to find expertise in our sector primarily on the domestic employment market."

With a total area of over 2000 square metres and direct links to the vehicle manufacturing and track production facilities, the company has an important new tool for material flow available with the logistics centre from October 2012.

Due to the restructuring of operating procedures and flow of goods it will be even easier for MACK Rides to respond flexibly to orders and supply even more, incredible attractions all over the world.

With a much higher demand than calculated, the products of MACK Rides are huge
seller in the worldwide
market. Several Megacoasters and WaterRides in the near future are under contract and the factory of MACK Rides is busy nowadays. With every track section and

2011-11-22 Roland Mack is the new Chairman of IAAPA

Together with his colleagues on the Board of Directors, he will work on the strategic development of the industry, the international exchange of experiences and ideas and, in particular, on the harmonization of safety standards. “For me personally, the worldwide harmonization of safety standards in the leisure industry will be a crucial part of my work” emphasises Roland Mack.

With over a million employees, about a billion visitors a year and estimated total sales of over 30 billion US dollars, amusement parks have developed into a major commercial sector worldwide. As the international association of amusement parks, the IAAPA attends to all concerns of the leisure industry. Some 4,500 companies in over 90 countries are represented in the organisation, including over 1,000 well-known amusement parks. The objectives of the IAAPA focus not only on safety, effectiveness, marketing and economic efficiency of its members, but also on ensuring that its members maintain and continually upgrade the best possible standards in the leisure industry.

Besides his duties as Chairman of IAAPA, Roland Mack will continue as managing partner of Europa-Park. But his appointment as Chairman has come at the right time: His sons Michael and Thomas have been working in the family business for several years. “Without this support such a task would not be possible” said Roland Mack. “My sons have shown that they can support my brother Jürgen and myself with the management of the park.”
