"Piet Piraat" sets sail to new adventures
Plopsaland to open MACK Rides SuperSplash in 2006
Since "Plopsaland" in Belgium opened its doors on 1st April 2000 the park is successful beyond any expectations. Even though the quality and entertainment value of the venue would be reason enough to "wow" visitors, it’s the company behind the park which keeps visitors heading to the park: Studio 100. Barely know outside the BeNeLux countries, this TV company produces the some of the most successful kids’ TV programs to date. And much like the secret of success behind Disneyland, Plopsaland is THE place where children can meet their loved TV characters.
Among those is "Peet Piraat" the star of the new star-attraction at the park, which will soon open its doors: the MACK Rides SuperSplash. Due to an entire re-design of a large part of the Park, the now third edition of the MACK Rides SuperSplash will welcome the guests in a spectacular setting. Visitors will be able to come very close to the action as a bridge leads right over the fastest part of the drop where riders race through an underground section only to fly back into daylight over a gravity-defying –0 G’ camelback hill experiencing weightlessness. At this point a spectacular tow-bridge crosses the scenery right before the boats dive into the big lake and create the enormous water fountain which make this type of ride so characteristic and so much fun.
But the biggest surprise awaits riders even before the race back down to earth. It is the lift which makes the ride at Plopsaland so unique. A combination of two well-know MACK Rides features, the turntable and the vertical lift, are hidden inside a big tower. Once the boat has come to a halt inside the massive structure all of a sudden the boat starts to spin gently around its own axis while rising vertically. The speed of both, the spinning action and the elevation, can be determined depending on the storyline or the audience. A World’s First.
Another premier is the lap bar system. Due to the wish of Plopsaland to allow already 4-year-olds to experience the adventure, the beautifully designed boats do feature individual single lap bars on every seat to assure a perfectly fitting safety system for any rider.
A truly spectacular addition – and already the sixth MACK ride – to this young park on its way to becoming a major player in this industry.
