the owners and General Managers of family park „Drievliet", the brothers Piet Faaij (Technic), Jos Faaij (Marketing / PR) and Wim A. M. Faaij (Finance).
Question 1: Drievliet has with "De Kopermijn", "Twisterix" and "Xtreme" already three roller coasters. Why did you decide to introduce yet another coaster as the new attraction for 2005?
| |
Roller coasters are the most popular rides at Drievliet. That is why we wanted to strengthen the range of our offer in this field. The "Dynamite Express" has a long train and corresponding to that a high capacity - that is not given yet with the other coasters we own. |
Question 2: Why a MACK powered coaster and not a teenager ride?
| |
The „Xtreme" is more aimed at teenagers, the „Dynamite Express" appeals to the whole family (children of 1m can ride with an adult). The most important target group of Drievliet is - without a doubt - families. The Powered Coaster fills-in a small gap in the range of coasters this year. All age groups can are targeted and can even enjoy the experience together. |
Question 3: Have you ridden other MACK Powered Coasters before?
| |
(they all smile as if it is rather impossible to get around this type of attraction) Of course we did - quite a few. |
Question 4: How often did YOU ride your new "Dynamite Express" already?
Question 5: "Dynamite Express" sounds exciting. Who had the idea for the theme?
| |
All three of us came up with that idea. We wanted a train design and the age of the Gold Rush simply is a rich theme. The ride’s speed led us to the topic dynamite: born was the name "Dynamite Express". |
Question 6: The train looks interesting. Who did the design job?
| |
MACK - together with our creative Input. |
Question 7: What are your personal highlights of your new ride 2005?
| |
The ride harmonizes visually just perfectly with the neighbouring „wild mouse" which is themed as a copper mine. The train - especially the new design of the engine - really is impressive. Moreover it is the interesting layout of the ride which we are very satisfied with. |
Question 8: How do your guests react on the ride?
Question 9: "Dynamite Express" is the first really stationary coaster with concrete foundations at Drievliet. Even though the Netherlands is rich in theme parks Drievliet has become a strong entertainment offer. Do you see a further growth lying ahead?
| |
There are more rides in the park which have concrete foundations. |
Question 10: How important is the ever-growing target group 55+ for Drievliet?
| |
Especially with the „Dynamite Express" we widen our offer which can be fully enjoyed by this target group. Of course we have this in mind. |
Question 11. If you could fulfil your wildest dreams. Which ride would you love to offer to your Drievliet-guests next?
| |
(all three are laughing and their eyes tell more than thousand words) THIS is and remains a secret. |
Thank you for the Interview and enjoy your MACK Rides Powered Coaster!
PRESS-INFORMATION JULY 2005 Close to the Netherlands’ administrative Capital Den Haag, situated just offshore, you will find a small but steadily growing family park: Drievliet. In the course of last month the park opened its latest ride, the newest version of the classic MACK Rides Powered Coaster. In the meantime this type of ride went through many steps of development. Not only the fabrication of the track is done in half the time and less complicated, the comfort of the trains has increased too. Through adding comfortable seating configurations and single lap-bars into the runaway train cars even small children of 1m and 4 years can experience the exciting roller coaster ride.
So the ride is a true family adventure which can be done all together. Right after its opening the coaster became a visitors’ favorite. By being the coaster with the highest capacity in the park, the ride easily manages to please the crowds.
The track features the well-known upwards and downwards helix as well as two rapid directional changes which are far more exciting than on previous ride layouts due to the new MACK Rides track fabrication system. All new experiences can be created now.
At Drievliet the work on the theming of the attraction is well underway so that the „Dynamite-Express – by the way the first stationary coaster of the park – lives up to its name with the scenery, too. A big station building in the style of an old mining building is the center of a large cliff featuring many decoration elements from the years of the Gold Rush.
